The audit, initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021, aimed to scrutinize the activities of NDDC from its inception until August 2019.
Despite the conclusion of the audit several months ago, the Nigerian government has not revealed when the report will be available to the public.
Briggs underscored the women’s concerns, stating that the substantial resources invested in the audit make it imperative for the report to be promptly disclosed.
She emphasized the significance of transparency and accountability in the utilization of funds for the betterment of the Niger Delta region.
Moreover, Briggs conveyed the disappointment felt by the region’s women due to their underrepresentation and neglect in various aspects of government, development, and decision-making processes.
She urged Ogbuku, the Managing Director, to prioritize addressing these issues and leveraging partnerships with international oil companies, developmental organizations, and government agencies to tackle the region’s challenges effectively.
