During his meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in New York City, Tinubu stressed that the idealistic visions expressed by various world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly must be translated into tangible actions to avert global failure.

Tinubu, accompanied by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed that it was imperative for the United Nations to evolve from merely a platform for discussions into a primary hub for coordinating international actions.

He expressed concerns about the inefficiency of allocating 70 percent of resources for the world’s poorest nations to overheads and administrative expenses, emphasizing the need for more effective assistance where it is most required.

The Nigerian leader called for immediate, collective efforts to combat poverty, enhance security, and address counter-terrorism issues, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Tinubu, who had a history of poverty himself, stated his commitment to eradicating poverty in Nigeria, emphasizing the country’s potential as a giant with a substantial youth population.
