The governor made this declaration during the launch of the vehicle inspection center in Ubalaka, Umuahia South local government area, describing it as an innovative development in the state.

In addition to ensuring that only roadworthy vehicles operate in the state, Governor Otti highlighted that the scheme would also contribute to boosting the internally generated revenue of the state. He emphasized the positive impact it would have on job creation for the youth in the region.

Governor Otti commended the facilitators of the center, Temple SYC, for their collaboration with the administration to bring this initiative to fruition. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Transport for conceiving the idea.

The state’s Commissioner for Transport, Sunny Onwuma, explained that the scheme aims to promote the use of roadworthy vehicles and enhance road safety.

He assured that the ministry would work closely with the facilitators to promote a culture of safe driving within the state, urging the public to embrace this initiative.

Segun Obayendo, the Group Managing Director of Temple SYC, expressed his delight that the state has now inaugurated the inspection center.

He noted that Abia State has joined the ranks of 26 other states with a shared commitment to reducing road accidents. Additionally, Obayendo stated that the center has the capacity to inspect up to 200 vehicles daily.
