Adeola’s Remarkable Contributions Celebrated By Tinubu As GTB Founder Marks 70th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu extended warm congratulations to Mr. Fola Adeola, a distinguished business leader and long-time friend, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Adeola, the founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, boasts an impressive educational background, having attended Yaba College of Technology, where he earned his HND in Accountancy. Additionally, he obtained degrees from prestigious institutions such as the London School of Accountancy, the International Institute for Management Development, the Lagos Business School, and the Harvard Business School.

Prior to establishing GTB Plc in 1990 alongside Tayo Aderinokun, Adeola held the position of Deputy General Manager and Divisional Head of the Financial Services Division at Continental Merchant Bank Limited from 1986 to 1990.

In the public sector, Adeola served as the Chairman of the National Pension Commission and chaired the Lagos State Disaster Relief Committee formed in response to the January 27, 2002, Lagos armoury explosion. His foray into politics saw him as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 presidential elections, running alongside former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission chairman, Nuhu Ribadu. Additionally, Adeola is the founder and chairman of the FATE Foundation and holds a membership position in the Commission for Africa.

Ngelale conveyed Tinubu’s felicitations, praising Adeola for his significant contributions to the Nigerian business landscape. Tinubu commended Adeola’s role in job creation, fostering investment opportunities across various sectors, and championing initiatives for Nigeria’s economic progress.
