The robbers targeted a combined team of police officers who had been dispatched to the hotel to confront them. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two of the robbery suspects sustained fatal wounds, while others managed to escape with gunshot injuries.

The operations lasted for nearly an hour, causing panic and confusion among the residents of Sagamu, who sought safety by fleeing in different directions. Concerned parents rushed to schools to collect their children and wards, fearing that rival cult groups had resumed their violent clashes in the cultism-prone area of Sagamu.

The police retrieved various items at the scene, including two locally made single barrel guns, four unexpended cartridges, 13 expended cartridges, one large pair of scissors, ten Android phones, one Java phone, and a white Toyota Venza car with registration number BWR 123DD Abuja.

SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident and reported that a Police Inspector and two security guards had been shot by the suspected robbers.
