AFCON 2025 is set to kick off on December 21 in Morocco, and organisers say the restrictions are aimed at ensuring safety, maintaining order, and providing a seamless matchday experience for fans across all host venues.

In guidelines published on CAF’s official website on Monday, the football body stated that all fans will undergo security checks before entering stadiums. Supporters were advised to avoid bringing banned items to prevent delays, confiscation, or denial of access on match days.

CAF explained that the measures form part of comprehensive security plans designed to protect supporters, players, and officials throughout the competition.

Among the items prohibited at AFCON 2025 venues are alcoholic drinks, illegal drugs and substances, weapons or sharp objects, fireworks and pyrotechnics, glass containers, and flammable materials. Also banned are racist, violent, or discriminatory banners, as well as unauthorised political, religious, or commercial displays.

The list of restricted items further includes drones and animals, large umbrellas and oversized hats, professional photography and recording equipment, musical instruments and loud horns, radio-emitting devices other than mobile phones, and bulky or heavy bags.

  • Racist, violent, or discriminatory banners

  • Unauthorised political, religious, or commercial signs

  • Musical instruments and loud horns

  • Radio-emitting devices (except mobile phones)
