In response, Akpabio remarked, “You see Senator Natasha, in the chamber, you have to be recognized before you speak. We’re not in a nightclub.”

This incident came after Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had previously voiced dissatisfaction with her exclusion from discussions concerning the nation’s capital.

Addressing the Senate on Tuesday, Akpabio expressed regret over his comments to Natasha, emphasizing that he harbors no intention to demean any woman. He acknowledged the widespread criticism and backlash generated by his remarks, particularly on social media.

“I will not intentionally denigrate any woman, and I always pray for the elevation of women. Senator Natasha, I apologize to you. The reaction on social media demonstrates that we have adversaries. He also urged for responsible use of social media, emphasizing that regulations should not be imposed out of frustration.
