The APC’s Ogun State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, lodged a petition with the police, accusing Adebutu and other PDP members of engaging in vote-buying practices. The case has now escalated to court proceedings.

During Adebutu’s extended stay abroad, the APC’s spokesperson in the state, Tunde Oladunjoye, suggested that Adebutu was avoiding legal repercussions. Oladunjoye challenged him to return and confront the allegations.

Upon Adebutu’s return over the weekend, the APC, in a statement on Tuesday, welcomed him back and urged him to surrender to authorities to address the vote-buying and money laundering charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The APC’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Olusola Blessed, stated, “If it is indeed true that Adebutu has returned to the country after being away from the long arm of the law since April this year on the pretext of medical vacation, we welcome him back to his fatherland.”

The APC further encouraged Adebutu to present himself to the authorities and defend against the allegations of vote-buying and money laundering, emphasizing that charges had already been filed against some members of his party in connection with the 2023 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Adebutu, accompanied by his legal team and supporters, met with the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, before being led into the State Criminal Investigation Department. The unfolding legal developments add another layer to the ongoing political dynamics in Ogun State.
