The family was abducted along the Ise Akoko-Iboropa road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Reverend Olowolagba, from Ikaram-Akoko, was traveling with his wife, Mrs. Olowolagba, their 16-year-old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a first-year student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), and a 9-year-old girl named Idowu, who was staying with them.
The abduction occurred between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm on Sunday, while they were traveling from Ipesi through Isua Akoko, before being intercepted near Ise-Akoko.
The Bishop of the Akoko Anglican Diocese, Reverend Babajide Bada, confirmed the kidnapping and explained that the family’s disappearance became apparent the next morning when church members realized they had not reached their destination in Ikaram.
Bada stated, “Reverend Olowolagba was traveling from Ipesi with his wife, Mrs. Olowolagba, their 16-year-old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a 100-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), who had come home for the holiday, and a nine-year-old girl named Idowu. They were traveling from Ipesi through Isua Akoko, and when they reached the area between Isua and Ise-Akoko, they were kidnapped. We only realized the next morning when church members noticed they hadn’t arrived in Ikaram as expected.
“Since then, the kidnappers have been calling, demanding ₦75 million ransom. We initially thought that was unreasonable, but they later reduced it to ₦10 million. However, when we raised some money, they increased the demand to ₦15 million. That’s why the Reverend, his wife, and two children are still in captivity.
“Amotekun is involved, and we’ve reported the case to their office in Akure. They are actively working on the matter, as well as the local hunters and the police in Ikare and Isua.”
