The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has dismissed claims that Northerners are opposing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with The Sun, Basiru addressed the speculation that the North is uniting against Tinubu, labeling such assumptions as a “fallacy of hasty generalization.”

He argued that these claims are mere fabrications by disgruntled politicians, stating, “The idea that Northerners are conspiring against Asiwaju’s re-election is flawed. Key figures like the Vice President, the Minister of Economic Development, and the APC National Chairman—who all support President Tinubu—are not Southerners. It’s inaccurate to suggest that the North is against his 2027 bid.”

Basiru highlighted recent events in Katsina to reinforce his point, saying, “During rallies in Katsina, chants of ‘Nigeria’ are met with responses of ‘Sai Tinubu.’ This shows the reality on the ground, contrary to the narratives spread by social media and dissatisfied politicians. The support for our party continues to grow across the country.”

He further emphasized that in Katsina, during the local government election campaign kickoff, all other political parties merged with the APC, including former Governor Ibrahim Shema. “Despite this, people still claim the North is against Tinubu. In Kaduna, our governor is performing excellently, and similar support exists in Kano. The President faces no issues in the North,” Basiru stated.

He concluded by stressing that the APC is currently focused on implementing its Renewed Hope Agenda, not on the 2027 elections. “We are not idle to be preoccupied with 2027 now. When it’s time for politics, we will address it accordingly.”
