Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, hosted former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa at his residence in Abuja on Monday. This meeting follows Atiku’s recent gathering with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, also held at Atiku’s Abuja home.
Details of Bafarawa’s discussions with Atiku remain undisclosed at present. Bafarawa, who had previously expressed his intention to remain active in politics but not seek elective positions or political appointments, reiterated this stance during a meeting with members of the Sokoto State Correspondent Chapel at his residence.
Having been engaged in politics for over four decades, Bafarawa emphasized the need for a generational shift in leadership, stating, “It is time to step aside and allow the younger generation to contribute to the nation’s development.” While affirming his continued involvement in politics, he clarified that he has concluded his pursuit of elected positions or political appointments.
Bafarawa expressed gratitude for his political journey and the impact he has made, affirming his commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s political landscape in other meaningful ways.
