Within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), there are concerns that Atiku’s ongoing presidential ambitions could hinder his ability to unify the party and provide cohesive leadership. Some PDP insiders worry that his focus on personal aspirations is distracting from his role as an opposition figurehead, keeping the party divided and struggling with internal conflicts.

Two senior PDP members, who requested anonymity, revealed that Atiku has not contributed financially to the party in recent times, raising questions about his commitment to its strengthening. One insider remarked, “Atiku hasn’t made any financial contributions to the party in a long while but still expects to secure the presidential ticket.”

Another party member expressed concern that Atiku’s personal ambitions cloud his judgment, preventing him from prioritizing the party’s collective interests. “His ambition will always influence his decisions, making it hard for him to unite the party and put its needs first,” the source said.

PDP Deputy Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, acknowledged Atiku’s political influence and experience but argued that he has not fully stepped forward to galvanize the opposition or strengthen the party. Osadolor pointed out that Atiku has the resources and influence to challenge the ruling party, but has yet to build the necessary networks or lead the charge for unification.

While Atiku is well-known in Nigerian politics and has a history of contributing to the country’s reforms, Osadolor believes that now is the time for him to step up and provide leadership for the opposition, not as a presidential candidate, but as a unifying force for change in Nigeria. “Nigerians need a leader who can rebuild and rescue the country,” he said.
