The recent incident in Kwasam, Kauru Local Government Area, where six individuals lost their lives and several others were abducted, including a retired director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has further highlighted the need for a robust military response.

The attack, which occurred late at night, saw armed bandits storming the community, wreaking havoc and instilling fear among residents. Among those abducted were Mr. Zakariya Markus, a former CBN staff member, his brother, and his brother’s wife. The bandits, in a brazen display of violence, also injured two individuals during the assault.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits forcibly took their hostages to the residence of the retired CBN official before fleeing the scene. Despite attempts by brave residents to intervene and rescue the victims, the bandits opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, Governor Uba Sani has emphasized the necessity of aggressive military operations against bandits across the state. He expressed condolences to the affected communities and underscored the importance of swift and decisive action to quell the menace of banditry.

The governor’s call for a robust military response reflects the growing concern among Kaduna residents regarding the escalating violence perpetrated by criminal elements. It highlights the urgent need for coordinated efforts between security agencies and local authorities to restore peace and ensure the safety of all citizens.

As the state grapples with the challenges posed by banditry, Governor Uba Sani’s decisive stance serves as a rallying cry for concerted action to confront and defeat the scourge of insecurity plaguing Kaduna State.
