In a ruling dated January 24, 2025, Justice Mukhtar Abubakar issued a stern warning to both officials, stressing that non-compliance with the court’s directive could lead to contempt charges and potential imprisonment.
He stated, “Take notice that unless you comply with the order of this honorable court sitting in Bauchi, you will be guilty of contempt and liable to imprisonment.”
The case, filed under suit number BA/1189/2023 by plaintiff Iklima Soro, accuses the Commissioner of Police of using officers to intimidate her, despite a court ruling directing both parties to maintain the status quo.
Furthermore, Abdulrazak Nuhu is accused of hiring thugs to invade his ex-wife’s home, defying an existing court directive.
According to reports from The Punch, the dispute began with a custody battle over their daughter, escalating when Nuhu allegedly intercepted a school bus on January 20, 2025, in Bauchi’s GRA area.
He is accused of forcibly abducting their 8-year-old daughter, Zainab, using a vehicle with covered plates and masked security officers, leaving other children traumatized.
Two weeks after the reported abduction, the child remains missing, with her mother still unaware of her whereabouts.
As a result, the court has accused the two officials of contempt, paving the way for legal ramifications.
