In a letter addressed to Tinubu, Bode George urged the president to thoroughly consider the implications before getting involved in the Niger crisis.
He highlighted that Nigeria is currently facing numerous challenges and suggested focusing on resolving domestic issues rather than embarking on an unnecessary war.
While acknowledging Tinubu’s commendable steps so far, George cautioned against entering another country militarily without due consideration of the consequences.
He stressed the importance of diplomacy, suggesting that a delegation representing the full Nigerian perspective, including diplomats (serving or retired), should be involved in the efforts to resolve the crisis in Niger.
George emphasized that diplomatic solutions should always be favored over war, stating, “To jaw-jaw is better than war-war.
” He also pointed out that the situation in Niger goes beyond purely military aspects and requires a comprehensive approach involving diplomacy and negotiation.
