The decision was announced by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, who emphasized the importance of collective reflection and solidarity during this challenging period.
The flood, which caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, hospitals, schools, roads, and bridges, has left hundreds of families affected. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed deep sympathy for those impacted and urged citizens to unite in prayer for the state and the nation.
The statement from the governor highlighted the need to support those affected by the September 10 disaster while celebrating Nigeria’s independence. Governor Zulum also called for prayers for strength and recovery, not just for Borno State, but for all of Nigeria.
The governor reassured the public that the state government would focus on rebuilding damaged infrastructure and providing relief to those affected. He added that efforts are being coordinated to ensure the efficient distribution of aid and support to the affected families.
