The development was made public on Monday through a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Johnson Okoye, titled “Moghalu Resigns Membership of Labour Party.”

According to the statement, Moghalu communicated his decision in a letter dated January 26, 2026, which he personally signed and submitted to the Labour Party chairman of his ward in Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State.

The resignation, which took immediate effect, was conveyed in a respectful tone, with Moghalu acknowledging the support and cooperation he received from party leaders and members throughout the campaign period.

“I extend the warm greetings of my family and write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Labour Party, effective January 26, 2026,” the letter read.

He added, “I sincerely thank the party, through you, for giving me the platform to contest the last governorship election in our state.”
