The club confirmed earlier in the month that Iraola, 43, will depart at the end of the season after choosing not to extend his stay. Bournemouth have since moved swiftly to secure a replacement, with Rose emerging as their top target.
The German coach was reportedly shortlisted alongside Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna and Rayo Vallecano boss Inigo Pérez before the club settled on the former RB Leipzig head coach.
Rose, 49, has been without a job since leaving Leipzig in March 2025 and will be taking charge of his first team in English football.
In an official statement, Bournemouth said: “Everyone at AFC Bournemouth looks forward to welcoming Marco to Vitality Stadium as he begins his role as head coach in the summer.
“The club’s immediate focus remains firmly on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible, with the players and staff continuing to show full commitment to achieving positive results and building on the current 13-game unbeaten run.”
Rose began his coaching career in 2012 with Lokomotive Leipzig before rising through the Red Bull coaching system. He enjoyed major success at Red Bull Salzburg, winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles and the Austrian Cup, before going on to manage Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.
During his time at Leipzig, he also secured silverware, including the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup.
Earlier in the year, he was linked with a move to Tottenham following the departure of Thomas Frank, but Bournemouth have now won the race for his signature.
He joins a Bournemouth side enjoying one of their strongest ever Premier League campaigns. The Cherries currently sit eighth in the table after a win over Newcastle and are just behind sixth-placed Chelsea on goal difference.
With a 13-game unbeaten run and European qualification still within reach, Rose could begin his reign with the club competing on the continental stage.
