On Friday, Warredi Enisuoh, Tantita’s Executive Director of Operations and Technical, disclosed this disagreement. The Nigerian Navy had accused Tantita Security of engaging in unlawful activities.
According to the naval spokesman, Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, the arrest was based on intelligence about the activities of crude oil thieves in the area. However, the security company asserted that the Navy is obstructing its personnel and other security agencies from accessing the impounded vessel for further investigations.
In response, the company has called for an immediate inquiry into the incident. The statement released by Tantita Security expressed disappointment in the Nigerian Navy for making what they claim to be false accusations against their organization. The company insisted that video evidence of the events between Tantita operatives and the Nigerian Navy at the scene exists and has been submitted to the highest authorities.
“We are indeed saddened and disappointed that the Nigerian Navy could descend so low as to make such bizarre accusations against our organization, knowing the same to be false. Perhaps they are not aware that video evidence of what transpired between the Tantita operatives and the Nigerian Navy at the scene exists and has been transmitted to the highest authorities. We will, therefore, not join issues with the Nigerian Navy,” the statement reads.
