According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, the incident came to light when the suspect raised a false alarm, claiming that armed robbers had entered their house. Subsequently, he reportedly covered his face, armed himself with a pestle, and attacked his wife in their bedroom.
The victim was promptly evacuated to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she received necessary medical attention. During the investigation, the suspect confessed to the allegations, admitting his intention to harm his wife and sell their television set to fund his shop.
Wakil stated, “The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation for discreet investigation to unravel more on the incident.” Following the investigation, the suspect will be charged in court for assault, causing grievous hurt, and attempted culpable homicide.
