Breaking News: Governor Adeleke Resolves Half-Salary Arrears For Osun State Civil Servants
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has successfully cleared another installment of the half-salary debt owed to civil servants, a lingering issue from the previous Rauf Aregbesola administration. The administration of Adegboyega Oyetola, which followed Aregbesola’s tenure, did not take substantial steps to address the outstanding salary debts. In a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, it was revealed that Governor Adeleke had approved a phased payment strategy to settle the salary debts. The statement also highlighted a parallel agreement with pensioners to address a significant N75 billion in outstanding pension and gratuity.
Governor Adeleke underscored the proactive measures taken upon assuming office, including the issuance of a circular on phased payment by the Head of Service under his directive. He emphasized his commitment to the implementation of the payment process, assuring workers that the phased approach outlined in the circular would be adhered to consistently.
“I revealed in several rallies last year that our administration would swing into action and activate the payment process once elected. I acted when we assumed office, and we came up with a circular on the phased payment issued by the Head of Service on my instruction,” stated Adeleke.
He further reassured workers that the implementation would continue without interruption, alongside other welfare packages for both active workers and retirees. Additionally, Adeleke expressed his commitment to the recently approved palliative allowances for both workers and pensioners across the state, including those at the local government level.
