Breaking: Police Reveal Why Chris Okafor’s R@pe Probe Was Suspended
The Lagos State Police Command has explained why it temporarily suspended the multiple rape investigation against popular clergyman, Chris Okafor.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a probe into the allegations and instructed Okafor to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Panti. The case was later transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further action.
Updating the public, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the investigation was paused because the complainants invited by police failed to appear. She added that the Lagos Command could not run a parallel inquiry while Zone 2, under the supervision of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, was handling the matter.
Adebisi explained: “There has been no further investigation from our command. When the complainants were invited, we discovered similar petitions are still under investigation in Zone 2. The CP therefore directed us to halt our probe. Once Zone 2 concludes, we will resume ours.
“All complainants have so far refused to show up. For now, we are not pursuing them further. We will wait for the outcome from Zone 2 to determine the next steps. Okafor was released on self-recognition to proceed to Zone 2 for further investigation.”
