The notice, released on Thursday evening, was signed by Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola. It stated that the revocation was in line with Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978, which empowers the minister to revoke any land that contravenes the terms of its Right of Occupancy.

Several notable individuals and companies had their land rights revoked, including Liyel Imoke, Sam Nda-Isaiah, Peter Gregory Obi, Julius Berger Nigeria, and Honeywell Construction, among others.

Upon taking office, Minister Wike had expressed his commitment to upholding the master plan of the FCT. He emphasized that any plot left undeveloped or with outstanding ground rents would face revocation. This action seems to be a step towards that commitment, as he had previously given a two-week window for allottees to settle their dues or face consequences.
