In a statement released on Sunday, the group’s state Coordinator, Moshood Lawal; State Secretary, Olufemi Aduloju; and Media Officer, Ms. Yewande Aribasoye, emphasized that the people of Ekiti are eagerly awaiting Oyebanji’s announcement. “We call on Governor Biodun Oyebanji to declare his intention for a second term now,” the statement read.
The call comes as the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus expressed its support for Oyebanji, acknowledging his effective representation and advocating for his re-election to continue his positive work. APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, also endorsed this view, stressing that while the official campaign period has not yet begun, the governor’s accomplishments should be continually highlighted and supported.
The next governorship election in Ekiti State is scheduled for 2026. BAO Agenda 2026 praised Oyebanji’s inclusive governance and ongoing development projects, such as the Ojuse BAO initiative and free education programs, which have benefitted both residents and non-residents of Ekiti.
The group expressed its readiness to mobilize support for Oyebanji’s re-election campaign, asserting that his achievements have solidified his position and made it challenging for any opposition to impede his bid.
Former Governor Niyi Adebayo, who convened the APC Caucus meeting, commended Oyebanji for his contributions and encouraged party unity. Immediate past Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi also praised Oyebanji’s outreach to opposition members, believing it would benefit the party.
APC Acting State Chairman, Sola Elesin, highlighted the importance of building a party Secretariat as a legacy for the late party chairman, Paul Omotoso. The meeting was attended by key figures, including Oyebanji, Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye, Senate Majority Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, House of Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, House of Representatives member Femi Bamisile, former Deputy Governor Abiodun Aluko, and the Governor’s Political Adviser, Chief Jide Awe.
