Chidoka criticized INEC for not utilizing its mechanism to review results within seven days, which he believes has not been effectively applied. He emphasized that elected officials should not benefit from any electoral irregularities and that all results should be thoroughly examined.

“All petitions must be resolved before swearing-in. We need to ensure that no one exploits gaps in the election process. Results should be meticulously reviewed and all relevant paper ballots should be audited,” Chidoka said.

He further suggested that INEC should compare the BVAS results with the data entered and cancel any results as needed. Additionally, he called for a return to the recommendations of the Justice Uwais report and the establishment of an Election Offences Tribunal.
