Contractor Confesses To Receiving N2.17b From NSA Office Without Project Execution....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Contractor Olugbenga Obadina, currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), admitted in court on Monday, May 20, 2024, that payments his company, Almond Projects Limited, received from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) on November 28, 2015, were not allocated for a power plant installation project in Yobe State, as initially claimed.

Obadina and his company, Almond Projects Limited, are the first and second defendants respectively in the EFCC’s prosecution, facing an eight-count charge related to conspiracy, official corruption, and money laundering amounting to N2, 17,190,000 (Two Billion, Seventeen Million, One Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira). This sum allegedly originated from the Office of the National Security Adviser under Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) on November 28, 2015, purportedly for services unrendered.

During cross-examination, prosecution counsel Ibrahim Buba prompted Obadina to identify the project for which payments were made to his company, specifically questioning if it was intended for a power project in Yobe State. Obadina responded in the negative, highlighting that the payment documents lacked any mention of project sites or locations.

The EFCC statement further quoted Obadina affirming that none of the payments received were designated for solar or power plant installations in Yobe State.

Citing the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, the prosecution noted the absence of specific references to project locations in Yobe State. Despite Obadina’s claims of mentioning a site outside Damataru, the state capital, during his statement, he couldn’t substantiate it when challenged by the prosecution.
