The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has threatened to take legal action against the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Kamorudeen Ogunlana, if she is not permitted to resume her legislative duties by Monday, September 15, 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The warning, contained in a letter dated September 10 and signed by her counsel, Michael Numa (SAN), stated: “Take notice that failure to comply by Monday, 15th September 2025, will leave us with no alternative but to initiate proceedings against you personally and in your official capacity.”

Numa explained that the proposed legal action would be anchored on the CNA’s alleged refusal to obey a subsisting court judgment and his violation of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. He added that such proceedings could include contempt charges, disciplinary sanctions, and liability for provoking a breach of public peace.

The lawyer urged Ogunlana to “reconsider his untenable stance and comply with the Constitution and extant judicial orders.”

This development comes after Acting CNA, Yahaya Danzaria, who wrote on Ogunlana’s behalf while he was out of the country, informed Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan that she could not resume until the Senate passed a resolution or the pending court case on her suspension was concluded.

Although her six-month suspension has expired, insiders suggest that Senate leadership may still block her return when plenary resumes on September 23, citing sub judice concerns.

In her lawyer’s letter, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the CNA of overstepping his constitutional authority, noting that his role is “purely ministerial: to record, transmit, and implement decisions of the Senate or the courts.” She stressed that no fresh resolution exists extending her suspension, and any attempt to prevent her return is “ultra vires, contemptuous of the Constitution, and in defiance of binding judicial orders.”
