Delta Governor’s Alleged APC Move Sparks Political Earthquake – Nwoko Sounds Alarm

Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, has claimed that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is making determined efforts to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nwoko made this assertion on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at an event in Ogwashi-Uku, Oshimili North Local Government Area, hosted by the APC Women Support Group in partnership with Rita Daniels’ Single Parenthood and Girl Child Initiative, as well as the Regina Daniels Charity and Development Foundation.

While reaffirming his commitment to the creation of Anioma State, Nwoko accused Governor Oborevwori’s aides of being anti-Anioma and opposing the initiative due to selfish political interests.

Nwoko explained that he officially joined the APC after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on January 1, 2025, followed by discussions with the Senate President and other top APC figures. According to him, they advised that Anioma statehood could only become a priority project if he aligned with the ruling party.

He stated, “The proposal is currently at the public hearing stage, having passed the second reading in the Senate. It will return for a third reading before heading to the President for assent.”

Nwoko further criticized past Delta North senators like Osakwe, Nwaoboshi, and Okowa, claiming they feared the idea of state creation due to concerns over power sharing. He stressed that creating Anioma State would bring immense benefits, including more political representation, development, and leadership opportunities.

“The APC is the only party willing to make Anioma State a reality. Others remain focused on personal gain, not the interests of the Anioma people,” he said.

He added, “If I have the backing of the President, wouldn’t it make sense to join the APC? They told me the project would only be fully supported if I came on board. Now, all APC members on the relevant committees are behind the Anioma agenda.”

Nwoko concluded by stating, “Governor Oborevwori is actively working behind the scenes to join the APC. It’s a strong party, and if he joins, the political landscape in Delta will become highly competitive. I encourage everyone to align with the APC, as the next set of leaders in Delta—governors, senators, representatives—will likely emerge from the APC.”
