DHQ Releases Video Footage Identifying Suspect Linked To Ukuama Massacre
Defense Headquarters officials announced on Friday that a circulating video clip has surfaced, purportedly featuring an individual taking credit for the brutal slaying of 17 officers and soldiers in the Delta community of Ukuama.
The incident, which occurred on March 14, saw the tragic loss of military personnel engaged in a peacekeeping mission within the Ukuama community in Delta, as reported by BUSHRADIOGIST.
In a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, on Friday, it was emphasized that the video footage holds significance in the ongoing probe to identify those responsible for the atrocity.
Buba highlighted the execution of clearance operations and thorough search efforts aimed at recovering the weapons belonging to the deceased soldiers. These operations encompassed various communities including Akugbene, Ukuama, and Okoloba in Ugheli and Ugheli South of Delta, as well as Amusamo, Akwagbe, Arhavwarien, Pirigbene, and Igbomatoro communities, all situated within Delta State.
During these operations, decomposed remains suspected to be the hearts of some of the slain soldiers were discovered, indicating the gravity of the violence inflicted upon them. However, despite ongoing efforts, no significant arrests have been made thus far.
Commenting on the situation, Buba remarked, “Of significant note, there exists a viral video featuring an individual confessing to the commission of these heinous killings. This video serves to narrow down our investigation to individuals of interest and their associates. Therefore, the cooperation of the state government and the communities hosting these suspects is crucial in aiding our efforts to bring them to justice.”
He added, “There will be no sanctuary for perpetrators of such despicable acts against our nation. This is a resolute call to action for members of these communities and the state government.
