Human rights activist Dickson Iroegbu has warned that excluding the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from participating in the 2027 general elections could trigger widespread unrest.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Iroegbu made the remarks during an interview with journalist Seun Okinbaloye on the Mic-On podcast, where he argued that preventing the NDC from appearing on the ballot would provoke strong public resistance.

According to him, any attempt to sideline the party ahead of the elections would amount to undermining the democratic process.

“There will be revolution and anarchy in the land if anybody thinks he can stop the NDC from being on the ballot. Anyone who thinks he can push the NDC aside is calling for anarchy,” he said.

The activist also claimed that the growing support for the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, poses a political challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.

Commenting on the 2027 presidential election, Iroegbu argued that the circumstances surrounding the 2023 poll would not be repeated, expressing confidence that voters would ensure their ballots are properly counted.

“Tinubu is overrated. He may have succeeded in grabbing and running with power in 2023. But in 2027, he will be shocked that we will hold him down and ensure the result is counted. If Nigerians do not end the APC, then APC may end Nigeria,” he stated.

His comments come against the backdrop of a recent decision by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which vacated its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
