In a letter addressed to a federal judge in Manhattan, Combs’ lawyers argued that knowing the names of the alleged victims is essential for adequately preparing for his trial scheduled for May 5, 2025.

This case is unique, particularly due to the number of individuals making allegations against Mr. Combs stemming from his celebrity status, wealth, and the publicity surrounding his previously settled lawsuit, along with grand jury leaks and false, inflammatory statements by DHS agents, as detailed in our earlier motion,” the letter, signed by Combs’ attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos and shared with Variety, states.

The letter continues, “This has created a pervasive ripple effect, resulting in a flood of accusations from unidentified complainants, ranging from the false to the outright absurd.”

The motion appears to reference the lawsuit filed on November 16, 2023, by Combs’ ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who accused him of physical abuse, rape, and sex trafficking. Although this lawsuit was settled the next day, it sparked a wave of legal actions against Combs from others claiming he assaulted them.

Combs’ attorneys also pointed out the six additional sexual assault lawsuits filed on Monday by anonymous accusers.

Counsel for these accusers recently held a press conference claiming to represent 120 individuals making outrageous and deeply prejudicial allegations, including violent sexual assault and the sexual abuse of minors,” the lawyers stated in their letter on Tuesday.

This publicity stunt, broadcast on Instagram, featured a ‘1-800’ number that reportedly received 12,000 calls within the first 24 hours.”

The attorneys further remarked, “These accusations came after more than a dozen lawsuits were previously filed and are currently pending, several of which have already been discredited, but not before causing irreparable damage to Mr. Combs’ character and reputation. These ongoing allegations have created a media circus that, if left unchecked, will prevent Mr. Combs from receiving a fair trial, if it hasn’t already.”

Combs, who was arrested by Homeland Security in Manhattan on September 16, is facing federal criminal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY.
