Many claim they were not paid their entitlements before being dismissed, which they argue violates the bank’s HR policies.

Paul Dekete, North Central Coordinator of the Conference of Autochthonous Ethnic Communities Development Association Youth Wing in Jos, Plateau State, called for the immediate reinstatement of the sacked workers in a statement issued on Sunday.

“The purge affected not only high-level executives but also Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors crucial to departmental operations,” Dekete stated.

He criticized the dismissal of professionals deeply involved in critical projects, including the attainment of international information security certifications.

The statement highlighted breaches of the bank’s HR policy and lack of transparency in the mass layoffs.

Dekete emphasized the personal and financial toll on employees, some with decades of service, abruptly terminated without proper communication or consideration.

He raised concerns over potential ethnic bias in the dismissals, noting disproportionate impacts on regions like North Central and South East.

Dekete urged for a review of all termination decisions to ensure compliance with CBN HR policies and public service rules.
