Dollar to Naira Black Market Exchange Rate:

These rates reflect the value at which players in the Lagos Parallel Market (black market) are buying and selling the US Dollar. According to sources from Bureau De Change (BDC), individuals were able to exchange dollars for naira at these rates on Friday, December 13.

Note: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not endorse the parallel (black) market and has urged individuals to engage in foreign exchange (Forex) transactions through official banking channels.

•Lowest Rate: ₦1520

It’s important to note that the exchange rate for buying or selling Forex may vary from what is reported here, as rates can fluctuate throughout the day.

Petrol Landing Cost Drops to ₦900.28 Per Litre

In other economic news, the landing cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, has decreased to ₦900.28 per litre as of December 13, 2024. This marks a reduction of ₦36, representing a 3.62% drop from last week’s cost of ₦936.75 per litre.

Data from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) indicated that earlier this week, the cost had even dipped to ₦890.43 per litre.

While the landing cost has dropped, the retail price of petrol in Nigeria remains unchanged at ₦1,060 per litre. Interestingly, imported petrol, excluding regulatory fees, is still cheaper than domestically refined products.

Between December 10 and December 13, 2024, oil marketers imported a total of 90,308 metric tonnes of petrol (approximately 121.1 million litres), with four vessels arriving at ports in Lagos, Rivers, Cross River, and Delta states.
