A suit filed to bar Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from participating in activities of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been dismissed by the Federal High Court in Abuja.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CV/539/2026, was struck out on Friday by Justice Peter Lifu, who also declined a request to stop the senator from identifying herself as a member of the party following claims of suspension over alleged anti-party activities.

In addition, the court awarded ₦20 million in costs in favour of Senator Kingibe.

The suit was instituted by two ADC members, Okezuo Godfrey Anayo and Isaiah Ojonugwa Samuel, who claimed to be acting on behalf of the party’s Wuse Ward Executive Committee in the FCT.

They alleged that Senator Kingibe was suspended on March 10 over offences including insubordination, and that the decision was ratified by a two-thirds majority of the ward executive committee. They further argued that the suspension was officially communicated to her and relevant party organs.

The plaintiffs contended that despite the suspension, the senator continued to present herself as a member of the ADC, urging the court to restrain her from doing so and to affirm the validity of her suspension.

However, Justice Lifu held that the matter was essentially an internal party dispute, over which the court lacked jurisdiction. He therefore dismissed the suit and imposed ₦20 million costs against the plaintiffs.
