George described the alleged development as worrisome, warning that it could deepen internal divisions within the PDP and create wider instability in the country’s political space if not properly addressed.

He made the comments on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he also expressed concern over the ongoing crisis in the PDP, describing it as unprecedented.

The PDP elder statesman faulted some party members, particularly those aligned with Wike, for allegedly disregarding party rules and procedures.

He recalled that the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan had earlier advised aggrieved parties to resolve their differences internally, but said some stakeholders failed to comply with that directive.

George added that the matter eventually reached the Supreme Court, which upheld the suspension of three members of the party’s National Working Committee.

According to him, “The point is, you can only lead a horse to water; you cannot force it to drink. If people refuse to follow the rules of a political party, then they become agent provocateurs.”

He insisted that political actors must respect party constitutions and judicial decisions, noting that no individual is above the law.

George further questioned the refusal of some actors to accept the Supreme Court’s position, stressing that obedience to the highest court is essential in a democratic system.

He also called on President Bola Tinubu to caution Wike, accusing him of acting in a way that could destabilise the political environment.

George alleged that Wike, while still identifying as a PDP member, was involved in the selection of governorship candidates for both the APC and PDP in Rivers State.

He said, “A man who claims to belong to our party is allegedly influencing candidates in both APC and PDP in Rivers State. This is unacceptable.”

The former PDP deputy national chairman warned that if not managed carefully, the situation could escalate into a broader political crisis, drawing parallels with past political unrest in Nigeria’s history.
