Wike also cautioned that any bank that permits the Turaki-led faction to open an account for the sale of nomination forms for the 2027 elections would face serious consequences.
He argued that any attempt by the faction to sell nomination forms under such circumstances would amount to defrauding Nigerians.
The minister further stated that if Turaki proceeds to open a bank account for the PDP in the current situation, it would have implications for his status as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Naija News reports that Wike made these remarks on Wednesday during his monthly media chat with journalists.
According to him, “Any bank that allows Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble. I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters.”
This comes amid an ongoing leadership tussle in the PDP following a Supreme Court ruling on the party’s internal crisis. The Board of Trustees (BoT), led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, had announced it was stepping in to oversee the party’s affairs, citing the need to prevent a leadership vacuum.
Wabara claimed the court’s decision affected the legitimacy of the party’s 2025 convention in Ibadan, which produced the Taminu Turaki-led National Working Committee.
He also stated that the ruling invalidated certain party actions, including key appointments and decisions made by the disputed leadership structure.
However, the PDP faction aligned with Wike has rejected claims of a leadership vacuum, insisting that Abdulrahman Mohammed remains the legitimate national chairman of the party.
