Aliyu Abubakar, the Turaki Adamawa and son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has rejected accusations that his recent visit to the Emir of Fufore, Muhammad Sani Ribadu, was a political endorsement of the newly established emirates in Adamawa State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The visit sparked controversy among some of his father’s supporters, who saw it as indirect backing for the creation of the emirates by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. Critics argued that the move was intended to weaken the influence of the Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, and suggested that Governor Fintiri failed to consult Atiku, who holds the esteemed traditional title of Wazirin Adamawa, the second-highest in the state.

The Emir of Fufore, Muhammad Sani Ribadu, is the brother of Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, and both families are connected by marriage, with Aliyu Atiku married to the NSA’s daughter.

In response to the backlash, Aliyu took to social media to clarify the purpose of his visit. He explained, “It has come to my attention that my recent visit to the Emir of Fufore has sparked a wide range of opinions, with some even calling it an endorsement of the new Fufore Emirate.”

He revealed that the Emir is his wife’s uncle, and the visit was simply a gesture of respect for his in-laws. “My wife has always stood by me, my siblings, and our extended family, in both good and challenging times. I deeply appreciate and value such support,” Aliyu stated. “I believe these acts of kindness deserve to be reciprocated.”

Aliyu further emphasized that life is not solely about politics. “There was life before politics, and life is not all about politics. I am thankful to my parents for raising us in a way that understands this distinction.”

Reaffirming his loyalty to the Lamido Adamawa, Aliyu declared, “My loyalty to His Royal Highness, Lamido Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, PhD, is unwavering. Being appointed as Turaki Adamawa at the young age of 25 was one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Aliyu concluded by calling for an end to the politicization of his family relationships, stating, “If anyone thinks they can create division within my family through political criticism, they need to take their ill-intentioned remarks elsewhere.”
