One of the counts specifies that Chekwube and Onuaguluchi, between November 2, 2022, and December 6, 2022, within Enugu, conspired to defraud Zod International Developers by falsely claiming they would secure a contract for the construction of six District Hospitals in Ebonyi State.

The charges are brought under Section 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and are punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

During the proceedings, Chekwube pleaded “not guilty,” prompting the EFCC counsel, Nuradeen Ingawa, to request a trial date and the remand of the defendant at the Enugu State Correctional Centre. The defense counsel, M. C. Onwuzuruoha, informed the court of a pending bail application.
