Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Nigeria Police Strategic Forum, Oyebanji, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd), highlighted the particularly troubling situation at Ekiti State University (EKSU). He assured attendees that his administration would continue to support security operatives in their efforts to combat these issues.

The Governor urged school administrators to intensify their efforts in addressing these challenges, pledging that his government would maintain an open-door policy to enhance safety for all residents.

In his welcome address, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police Mr. Akinwale Adeniran emphasized that the security of lives and property is a collaborative effort between the government and the community. He described the training program for the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) as an initiative from the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at ensuring a secure environment for students and teachers. The program, which will launch in Niger, Ekiti, and Abuja, is designed to prevent attacks on schools.

Adeniran expressed his satisfaction that Ekiti State is among the select few states chosen for this important initiative.
