During an interaction with members of the correspondents’ chapel in Ekiti state, the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, emphasized that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration is resolute in fulfilling its campaign pledges.
Olatunbosun conveyed that the government would exercise careful consideration in selecting projects, policies, and programs aimed at elevating the quality of life for the populace and advancing the state’s economic growth.
He highlighted that these initiatives encompass the development of intrastate roads, rural roads connecting farms, markets, schools, and hospitals.
Additionally, he underscored the significance of the upcoming Independent Power Project, which is poised to revolutionize access to power for crucial government institutions.
The commissioner emphasized that Governor Oyebanji’s shared prosperity vision centers on placing the people at the core, aligning with the six-pillar agenda devised to achieve sustainable progress across all 16 Local Government Areas.
Olatunbosun elucidated that various segments of the population, including workers, pensioners, artisans, and those in the informal sector, are already experiencing the positive impact of the new administration’s policies. He appealed to the citizens of the state for their continued support.
He remarked, “Investments in agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, digital technology, and empowering the financially underserved are yielding favorable outcomes, thereby contributing to the grassroots economy’s development.”
Highlighting recent accomplishments, Olatunbosun noted that the prompt disbursement of around N1 billion in pension gratuity was an unprecedented move in the state’s history.
He stressed that this fulfilled the governor’s commitment to prioritize the welfare of retirees and initiate a phased clearance of accumulated entitlements.
The commissioner outlined how the state government ensures timely salary payments for workers and consistent contributions to their cooperative societies, facilitating access to loans for personal projects. He also acknowledged the instrumental role of workers in executing governmental policies.
Olatunbosun emphasized the significance of legislative advancements such as the Ekiti Wealth Bill and the Start-Up Bill. He highlighted that these bills are pivotal in establishing financial reserves for developmental purposes and allocating funds for school leavers and graduates who might not secure government employment.
He advocated for media support in conveying the state government’s vision, programs, and policies. Recognizing the media’s role as an essential partner in delivering effective governance, he stressed its vital contribution to the welfare of the people of Ekiti State.
