Three witnesses testified, exonerating him from any wrongdoing in the allocation of N1.2 billion vehicle supply contracts by the CBN during his tenure.
Emefiele faced charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), consisting of six counts related to an alleged breach of procurement procedure in awarding the contract to April1616 Investment Limited.
In the course of the trial, the initial prosecution witness acknowledged that Emefiele neither owned nor held shares in April1616 Investment Limited, the company awarded the N1.2 billion vehicle supply contract under his leadership.
Samsideen Romanus, a senior official of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), presented evidence detailing the company’s incorporation on August 1, 2016, and submitted various documents outlining its establishment.
Romanus disclosed the names of the shareholders of the company, clarifying that Aminu Idris Yaro, Maryam Aliyu Abdullahi, and Saadatu Ramalan Yaro were joint owners of the entity.
