Ex-Commissioner Briggs Claims Wike Can’t Thrive In Peaceful Settings

David Briggs, a former Commissioner for Works and later Water Resources during Peter Odili’s administration in Rivers State, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of thriving in conflict and creating crises to sustain his political relevance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Briggs, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, made the allegations while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Saturday.
He dismissed Wike’s recent statements about reviving Odili’s political career, instead crediting the former governor for Wike’s rise in politics. Briggs emphasized that Wike’s second term as Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area was secured due to Odili’s intervention. Odili had reinstated Wike’s name on the nomination list, enabling his political ascent.
“The public should disregard Wike’s comments about Dr. Odili,” Briggs stated, adding that Wike “cannot and will not survive where there is peace.”
Briggs accused Wike of intentionally inciting crises across Rivers State to maintain his influence, noting that after a court ruling restored federal allocations to the state, peace prevailed. However, according to Briggs, Wike created new problems to keep benefiting from the situation.
He further alleged that Wike was behind the ongoing political tensions in several local government areas in order to retain control.
Briggs also reflected on how Wike’s political success, including his bid for governor, was aided by Odili and former First Lady Patience Jonathan. He cited a viral video showing Patience Jonathan introducing Wike to Odili for political endorsement.
“Wike’s comments are insulting to Odili and the people of Rivers State. Dr. Odili played a crucial role in building the state’s political structure and in Wike’s political rise,” Briggs concluded.
