The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has refuted claims circulating in the media suggesting that he acquired an N300m armoured Lexus vehicle upon his assumption of office. CONTINUE READING
Wike addressed these allegations after inspecting the Abuja Light Rail project. Speaking candidly to the press, he stated:
“I’ve noticed the narrative being spun on social media, suggesting the Permanent Secretary procured a N300m bulletproof car for my use. I would like everyone here to physically inspect the said car and ascertain for themselves whether it’s armoured. We must always approach such allegations with caution to avoid baseless character assassinations.”
The minister continued, “Upon my appointment, the Permanent Secretary did inform me of an available official car, which I currently use. However, I have neither requested nor approved the purchase of any new vehicles, let alone a bulletproof one. While I did have official cars as a governor – which is to be expected – I wish to clarify that I do not use an armoured car in my capacity as the FCT Minister. It is essential for the media to accurately report facts and avoid potentially harming reputations with misleading information.” CONTINUE READING
To further emphasize his point, he urged the journalists to inspect the car he uses, especially the area where the flag is mounted, to determine the truth about its specifications.
