The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has stated that the begging behavior exhibited by Okpravero Ufuoma, a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer, does not reflect the overall passenger experience at Nigerian airports. In a statement released on Thursday, Kuku expressed concern over a video showing an NIS officer begging for money and assured that such behavior does not align with the standards FAAN aims to uphold. The officer involved has been removed from duty at the airport and is undergoing disciplinary procedures with the NIS.
Kuku urged passengers to report any instances of financial extortion or unprofessional conduct, including begging, to ensure a comfortable and safe travel experience. She reaffirmed FAAN’s commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism among airport staff.
“Passengers are encouraged to report any similar incidents and seek assistance through the provided contact numbers and QR codes,” Kuku added. “Ensuring your safety and comfort is our utmost priority.
