The family of the late Paul Akintelure, a gubernatorial aspirant under the APC in Ondo state, has expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding his demise, deeming it as anything but ordinary.
According to reports from Naija News, Akintelure, a medical practitioner vying for the APC’s gubernatorial ticket, was confirmed deceased in the early hours of Tuesday.
This sad event unfolds just a week after Akintelure raised alarms concerning threats to his life, hinting at potential danger ahead of the APC’s gubernatorial primary scheduled for April 25.
While specifics regarding the threat were not disclosed, he emphasized the seriousness of the matter with a sense of apprehension.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Oladapo Akintelure, the younger brother of the deceased, expressed skepticism about the naturalness of his brother’s passing. He revealed that Paul had been battling various ailments, leading to his hospitalization before his eventual demise.
Oladapo disclosed that Paul had been urged to take a hiatus from his campaign to focus on his health, highlighting concerns over his well-being.
“For the past 12 or 14 days, he had been grappling with sudden illnesses ranging from headaches to back and chest pains. He was hospitalized at one point and had to suspend his campaign to address his health. There was a time when we were deeply concerned and advised him to rest, relocating him to Lagos,” Oladapo shared.
Despite the medical challenges, Oladapo expressed disbelief over the abrupt loss of his brother, branding it as a sorrowful occurrence.
“As a family member, I’m hesitant to delve into details at this moment because we’re still reeling from the shock. This doesn’t seem ordinary, and it’s truly unfortunate that we’ve lost him at such a crucial juncture,” he lamented.
