Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, revealed this as part of the efforts to boost substantial food production and nutritional security.

Furthermore, the Federal Government intends to provide a 50 percent subsidy to wheat farmers in the upcoming dry season to enhance food security and promote self-sufficiency.

The Minister emphasized the commitment to fostering significant wheat production in the forthcoming dry season for both local consumption and foreign export activities.

During a courtesy visit to the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar-Maje, in Hadejia, Jigawa State, Senator Kyari shared this information. He mentioned that Jigawa State would receive an allocation of 40 hectares, with the remaining 30 hectares distributed among other wheat-producing states.

The Minister also highlighted the dedication of President Bola Tinubu to advancing food security through efficient Smart Agriculture practices.

He praised the Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Umar Namadi, for his commitment to making the state a prominent wheat producer in the country. In response, the Emir of Hadejia, represented by the Galadima Hadejia, Alhaji Usman AbdulAziz, encouraged the timely planning and commencement of the wheat season, recognizing the significance of initiating wheat cultivation preparations.”
