The Super Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda, marking their first win in the qualifiers, but later drew 1-1 at home against Zimbabwe. Osimhen was instrumental, scoring twice in the win against Rwanda and netting the team’s only goal against Zimbabwe. His commitment and determination on the field earned him accolades, with Ikpeba particularly impressed by his passion and effort.
Speaking on SuperSport TV’s Monday Night Football, Ikpeba commended Osimhen’s energy and noted that his emotional reaction after the Zimbabwe game was a sign of his dedication to the sport.
Ikpeba, a member of the Super Eagles’ AFCON 1994 championship team, also applauded Coach Chelle for revitalizing the squad’s fighting spirit. He suggested that an earlier appointment of Chelle could have improved the team’s standing in the qualifiers.
