Governor Sanwo-Olu Pledges Enhanced Support And Infrastructure For Lagos Judiciary

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that this commitment includes the full restoration of the JIC Taylor Court House, also known as the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
This courthouse had suffered extensive looting and vandalism during the upheaval that ensued from the anti-police brutality protests on October 22, 2020.
The governor further assured that a series of court facilities, including the Tapa courthouse located on Lagos Island, would undergo comprehensive renovations. Additionally, the government is dedicated to addressing various other vital requirements of the magistracy.
Governor Sanwo-Olu conveyed these assurances while attending a special thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos, commemorating the commencement of the 2023/2024 legal year in the state.
He emphasized, “Our administration has made a solemn commitment to finalize the restoration of the Tapa court and the JIC Taylor Magistrate Court.
Furthermore, we are fully committed to fulfilling all the requests made by our magistrates. What has been sought privately, we will provide publicly and even more.”
The governor expressed his profound appreciation for the judiciary’s dedication, citing their exemplary performance under the leadership of Chief Judge Justice Kazeem Alogba.
He encouraged them to maintain their commitment to upholding justice, particularly during challenging periods, underscoring the pivotal role they play in sustaining the functionality of society.
