Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, made this announcement in a statement on Friday in Abuja, highlighting the military’s intensified efforts against terrorism, banditry, and oil theft.
Buba outlined key achievements from recent military operations. Troops of Operation Hadin Kai were credited with eliminating 64 terrorists, apprehending 28 suspects, and rescuing 14 hostages.
Similarly, under Operation Fansan Yamma, 21 terrorists were neutralized, 24 suspects were detained, and five hostages were freed.
The statement revealed, “On January 3, 2025, the air component of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted an air interdiction at Alawa Forest in Shiroro LGA of Niger State. Battle Damage Assessment confirmed several terrorists were eliminated, and their structures, along with logistics, were destroyed.”
The operations resulted in the recovery of a variety of weapons, including nine AK-47 rifles, five fabricated rifles, four dane guns, and locally made pistols. Additionally, troops seized 124 rounds of ammunition, seven magazines, five live cartridges, and three radios.
Further recoveries included six motorcycles, four vehicles, four mobile phones, and various logistics equipment.
In the Niger Delta region, troops dismantled illegal refining sites and confiscated equipment used for crude oil theft. Buba emphasized the military’s dedication to ensuring nationwide security, stating, “Troops are maintaining the momentum of ongoing operational efforts.
