Igboho expressed gratitude to various prominent figures such as Yoruba leaders, politicians, media professionals, academics, and monarchs who provided critical support and solidarity during his time in Cotonou.
He stated, “I am now free to return to Nigeria and visit any country in the world. I have fulfilled all the legal requirements attached to my previous bail, and I am soon returning to Nigeria, my country of origin.”
He emphasized that there are no more legal impediments preventing his return to Nigeria, despite his extended stay in Cotonou. Igboho assured that he has secured the freedom to depart from Cotonou and head back to Nigeria.
Igboho had been a prominent figure in the campaign for Yoruba self-determination under the ‘Ilana Omo Oodua’ platform.
He specifically expressed appreciation to President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Banji Akintoye, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Dele Momodu, Yoruba diaspora communities, and Yoruba traditional leaders, among others.
In a statement titled “My Release in Benin Republic,” Igboho conveyed his gratitude to God for this development.
